Optometrist 

• Location: Bishopbriggs, Glasgow

• Contract: 12 months, starting mid-to-late January 2027

• Hours: Full-time | Alternating Monday–Friday and Tuesday–Saturday rota

• Saturdays: Alternate Saturdays, 9:00am–1:00pm

• Salary: £50,000–£56,000 depending on experience

• Requirement: Independent Prescribing qualification

• Opportunity: Potential for continued work following the maternity-cover period

The Opportunity

Insightful Recruitment is working with a well-established independent optical practice in Bishopbriggs to recruit an IP-qualified Optometrist for approximately 12 months of maternity cover.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Optometrist who enjoys genuine clinical variety, managing more complex patients and providing a consistently high standard of individualised care.

The practice offers a varied clinical environment, including specialist services, and places a strong emphasis on quality of care rather than a rushed, volume-led approach.

Working Hours

The usual rota alternates between:

• Monday to Friday one week

• Tuesday to Saturday the following week

• Saturday hours are only 9:00am–1:00pm

The position is expected to begin between the middle and end of January 2027.

The Role

The successful Optometrist will be responsible for:

• Delivering comprehensive, patient-focused eye examinations

• Managing more complex clinical cases confidently

• Supporting and delivering specialist clinical services

• Using their Independent Prescribing qualification effectively

• Providing clear clinical advice and recommendations

• Building trusted, long-term relationships with patients

• Maintaining accurate clinical records and consistently high professional standards

• Working closely with the wider practice team to deliver excellent patient care

About You

To be considered, you must:

• Be a GOC-registered Optometrist

• Hold a recognised Independent Prescribing qualification

• Be confident managing a varied and more clinically complex patient base

• Have a strong commitment to quality, continuity of care and positive patient outcomes

• Be an excellent communicator who enjoys developing lasting patient relationships

• Be comfortable working independently while contributing positively to the wider team
