The Opportunity
Insightful Recruitment is working with a well-established independent optical practice in Chiswick to recruit a part-time Optometrist.
This is an opportunity to join a patient-focused practice where appointments are 40 minutes, giving you time to understand each patient’s needs, explain your findings and provide thoughtful clinical care. The practice has an established patient base, many of whom value the attentive service of an independent practice.
The role is two days a week on an alternating rota: Monday and Thursday one week, then Monday and Saturday the next. There may be scope for the position to grow over time, although no specific timeline has been set.
The Role
You’ll carry out comprehensive eye examinations in a digital clinical environment, using equipment including OCT, an autorefractor and non-contact tonometry. The Optometrist completes and explains the OCT as part of the examination. The practice also uses a Heart Eye system, with scans uploaded to its software and shared with patient records.
The practice is continuing to develop its clinical services, including dry-eye care. You’ll have the opportunity to contribute to this work while maintaining a balanced, ethical approach to patient care.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Conducting thorough eye examinations and discussing findings clearly with patients
-
Completing and explaining OCT scans as part of the examination
-
Recommending products and services that are appropriate to each patient’s needs
-
Supporting the practice’s developing clinical offering
-
Building positive, lasting relationships with patients
About You
You’ll be a GOC-registered Optometrist who takes pride in providing considerate, patient-centred care. You’ll be comfortable taking time to explain clinical findings and options, and you’ll use your professional judgement to recommend what is right for each patient.
Newly qualified Optometrists are welcome to apply. Previous independent-practice experience is not essential; support will be available as you settle into the practice and its equipment.
